Can you afford PayPal’s system instability?
Posted: July 7th, 2011 | Author: phil | Filed under: paypal | No Comments »We’ve been hearing rumors around the net that PayPal is currently experiencing daily outages.
In 2009 a very significant outage occurred where PayPal was unavailable for 1 hour followed by subsequent outages. In our estimates, the outage cost merchants over $8.1 million in lost transactions.
As outages begin to increase, merchants & marketplaces begin to start looking to alternatives. While we here at Orca understand that most e-commerce merchants do not have the facilities to run their own marketplace billing infrastructure there are certainly marketplaces that can. If you are one of those, feel free to contact us to chat!
With Orca you can provide the same functionality of PayPal but host it on your own trusted servers and manage the settlement processes yourself. Did we mention you can also allow your merchants to issue and acquire digital gift cards themselves? We also support system wide gift cards too!
